Artificial grass installation in Ipswich and across Suffolk

We install artificial lawns on a compacted drainage base, levelled with crushed granite dust and bonded to a concrete edge. The ground preparation and the edging are part of every installation.

Our installation method

What goes beneath your lawn

We look at the ground, existing levels and where water can drain before we start. Here’s how we build up the lawn from the ground.

  1. Excavate and fit the weed membrane

We dig out the existing surface, then lay a heavy-duty weed membrane with bonded overlaps.

  2. Build the drainage base

We compact a suitable crushed concrete or crushed asphalt sub-base. Water passes through the perforated grass backing into the prepared base.

  3. Form the concrete edge and level with granite dust

We form a concrete perimeter haunch, usually 70–100 mm wide, then level the base with compacted crushed granite dust.

  4. Fit the grass and bond the edges

We trim and join the grass, then glue the perimeter to the concrete. This gives the grass a solid edge to bond to and avoids relying on timber in damp ground.

How does the lawn drain?

Water passes through holes in the grass backing into the prepared base. We check where water can drain before we settle on the build-up.

Why bond the edges to concrete?

The concrete provides a firm perimeter to glue the grass to, including where the lawn meets paving or a garden border.

What should I send for a quote?
